I think it's a very nice block and each one you make will get easier - love your fabrics.

Love the fabrics you used in your block makes a bold and dynamic statement. This block needs some friends so it can become a quilt. You might use it as a center medallion in the medallion quilt they are starting here on the board or say this was a learning process and the rest of the blocks will be a snap. I vote for the medallion though and with your taste in colors it will be a hit.

It's great. Be sure to show us how you use it, whether you do more or not.

I'm actually trying to put a dent inmy scraps, so it'll be different scrappy blocks. I have three done to date. Thanks everyone for the encouragement!

Pattern! There's a pattern? Lol! I am notorious for looking at a block and just figuring out how big or small to make each piece so it comes together. Sometimes it's hard as the dickens and sometimes not so much. For this one, I made the center row first using a 4.5 inch square, and then pieced from there. The small blocks are all 2.5, rectangles 2.5x4.5 and my HST are 2.5 finished. The whole block is 16.5 unfinished.
I buy very few patterns, cause I've always had an eye for isolating certain parts of a block and re-creating them. Probably the only talent, if you want to call it that, that I have!
