Ruth, I thought you were talkin about my 2nd posting of my railfence....but i see you where talkin about my little star quilt...It was all done on machine...the railfence was all hand done...sorry i got confussed..lol :roll:

I used to paint ceramics, and the batina that came from "antiquing" the item made everything "warmer" ... and, honestly! I had been thinking about taking a whole quilt and doing that ... I mean ... if I have to wash it anyway (for Operation 1161), I might as well do something like that just to see what happens.
Do you find that tying your quilts also makes them more puffy?
What kind of batting are you using?

Funny that you should mention the tea dying. I have been thinking that I might start doing that.

I have tea dyed some small quilts; havent done a big one yet, but will one day..And yes I do think a quilt feels more puffy when tyed...I love that look....My batting is thin and sometimes I just use a blanket.... tammy g
