My Hand Quilting Test Drive
#1

My mother and I have been a quilting team for many years. I have done all phases of the process except one--the hand quilting! My mom was a whiz and could hand quilt a queen size quilt in about two weeks.
I recently decided it was time for me to learn to hand quilt. I did a "test drive" with this simple wall hanging that uses a fabric panel in the center. The verdict: I love hand quilting! I was so surprised how relaxing the process is after a long day at work. I couldn't put the project down--even took it along on a vacation in Hawaii!
This is now hanging on the wall in my office--a fun reminder of my younger days playing in a high school and later, college marching band. I probably should have blocked the quilt but just couldn't wait another day to hang it.
This was just the right size to get started. My next hand quilting project--a bed quilt.
