My KS "Walkabout" batik quilt finally done

I bought this fabric 3 years ago when our BR was buttercream yellow. Then we sold out and are now full timers in a big 5th wheel with a kind of taupe colored walls. I finally finished this Saturday, and have it on my QS bed. I made it KS so it'd have plenty of drape and also so I could fold it up over my pillows, not needing shams that way. In a 5th wheel I just didn't want to have extra "stuff" needing to be moved all the time. I quilted it on my 13" Bailey. It's far from perfect, but I'm happy with it. I took a class on Craftsy by Angela Walters about fmq feathers first. The pattern is Walkabout by Grizzly Gulch Gallery.

Dumb question. What is a 5th wheel? Wonderful quilt.

It's an RV. Ours is 37' with 5 slidesouts. We can pull it behind our truck. We will be staying put for a few years so my husband gave me 2/3 of his shed for my sewing. Finished it off with heat & AC so I'm truly a happy camper.😉

Very nice, I sure can't see how you can do all of that in a 5th wheel!

Very nice quilt, I sew in my trailer in the summer. You are lucky with the room in the shed. 5 slidouts help.

Your quilt is beautiful!! Been wondering how we would ever downsize, but sounds like you two have found a pretty good compromise with the slideouts and the shed. (Bet you're very happy with the shed in the deal) My imagination tells me that when we are on our RV adventures, I will just downsize my quilting aspirations to making minis while on the road. I did one last year- a wall hanging with very traditional posies on it, and did the handwork in the evenings. That worked fairly well for me, and wasn't too much for "the basement storage areas."

Silly me, I thought that KS meant Kansas so I was looking to see what it looked like so I could perhaps make my friend in Kansas the pattern.
Regardless, your quilt is beautiful and so smart to make it large so as to eliminate having to drag around shams when space is precious!

Lovely quilt! We are going to downsize in 2017, so maybe you'll be my inspiration. I think you did a really good job.

I too thought it was Kansas and was curious as to what a walk about Kansas pattern was, I have quilting relatives there and had never heard of it. Got a good chuckle out of my assumption that KS was a state,

Love your colors and Batiks. Great quilt. Enjoy you're "walk abouting".
