    My latest quilting

The sewing machine cover is made out of a gutra....the red and white scarf that the Saudi men wear on their heads. Need to take as much of Saudi home with me as I can and I thought this would be a really pleasant reminder!

As I am leaving Saudi Arabia soon, I made a quilt for my old boss. The center pic of him is embroidered (digitized by enchantingembroidery.com). The pics were all pics that were taken while I worked there.

I love the sewing machine cover, nicer than my plastic one that came with the machine. Great job on the quilt.

That is neat. You did a good job. Love it. Is the fabric cheaper, expensive or about the same over there. Just curious.

    Thanks!

Are u sure u want an answer to your question about the price of fabric over here???? lol I often go to the 5SR shop....that is about $2 a meter! On average tho, I would say the price here is about $6 a meter. We were all very upset when the price went up by 5sr a meter.

I have collected many, many things here over the years....and fabric is one of them! I have a huge wardrobe that is literally stuffed full of fabric....I can't even get any more in (but i keep buying more fabric! lol). I keep telling myself that fabric won't go bad....and there is no way that I will get it for anywhere near the same price in Canada!

Dubai is an even better bargain for fabric. It is about about $4US a meter. Usually when we go to Dubai, I end up being overweight with my luggage...I have bought too much fabric!

Beautiful memories and I know your former boss will treasure the quilt always. And at those prices, I understand the "need" to buy more and more fabrics. From the pictures you posted, it appears that you use it as well as collect it!
    Safe travels home.

What a fabulous quilt you made. As for all that fabric ... it will bring you great memories for years. I can still tell you exactly where I bought some of my fabrics purchased over the years in my travels. I think its great way to bring some Saudi home with you.
