Flying V: When I first started quilting I had such a problem choosing fabric colors and values.......I'm still lost when it comes to putting colors together but anyway, when I first started quilting I knew that red, white and blue DID go together so I made alot of RW&B quilts, wall hangings, tablerunners, potholders, etc. I have 4th of July decorations throughout the house but only during the month of JULY! I'm getting better at colors but still anguish over the process. When I'm really overwhelmed (or underwhelmed) I revert back to the good ol' RW&B!

That is very pretty, & no you're not crazy. You could use a red & white verigated thread to free-motion quilt your stars in the border. Then, depending on how much you want the wording to show, choose a different thread to quilt the National Anthem. If you can follow a line while FMQ, you could write it out for placement testing and then stitching consistency, with a wash out or chalk marker of course. It would be incredible indeed! But, then again, it already is!!
