My Native American Family Heritage Quilt
#34

A beautiful way to teach and affirm your heritage to your family. As you display this quilt is you can remind your granddaughters of their ancestors and prepare them to stand in your place to pass on your memories to the next generations.

great job and a great tribute to both tribes. I too have a strong Indian background, part Blackfoot and part Cherokee. I've only had one person to ever tell me they could see Indian in me but I know its there and that's what counts.

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to this board. Happy New Year! It's a balmy 7 degrees here tonight. Too cold to go out so... I just finished my family heritage quilt instead. I began work on this a few months ago. My family is part of the removed to Kansas from New Jersey, Munsee Lenni-Lenape (mother) and NC Cherokee (father). I just took this off the Inspira frame tonight and have to bind it yet. I'm thinking black for the quilt binding going on tomorrow. The quilt was totally custom designed by me and will be handed down to my grand-daughter's eventually after my passing. It's labeled with both sides of our family heritage Tribal information. It is in Tribal colors and has hand cut applique significant to our family and our removal from our lands long ago. Quilted in a feather motif.
