Finally, I was able to pick up Ruby Jewel, my Christmas gift from me to me. She sews beautifully, the motor is strong and quite fast. I am so excited to finally get her. I custom ordered the paint color and she is just gorgeous. The pictures don't do her justice. She is a nice dark ruby red. I have been wanting a red FW for quite some time. Below is also a picture of Ruby Jewel next to her younger and not cosmetically enhanced sister Libby.

Is the ruby one an original featherweight? I didn't know they made them that color.

I don't normally like the old machines but I really like Ruby Jewel. She is so pretty. Looks like she is dressed up for Sunday School.

Yes Judy, Ruby Jewel is an original FW with a new paint job. She was originally black and dates back to 1947. My other FW, Libby is from 1956.

Great job. Well done. So glad you got it. I love mine. I'm saving it have it painted. I got more accessories to go with mine for Christmas. A zigzagger and a buttonholer. Vintage screwdriver set and a brush. Oh, and a thread cutter. I'm over the moon.

My heart just did a flip when I saw your new Ruby Jewel. I am so glad to have my "Little Princess" even though she is not Ruby Red. But, have to admit I sure would like to have a Ruby Red. Your Ruby is truly a Jewel. Maybe Libby won't be too jealous.

Oh my! What a stunning lady in red she is. Did Billy "Lost in 51" do the paint job?

I know that there is a company on E-Bay that does Featherweights in all different colors. I think the bid for the machine with case and accessories and new paint job starts at $499 and it has a "Buy it Now" for $650. I saw a couple that Lost in 51 did and Billy does a great job. I don't know how much he charges.

I LOVE it and whoever painted it did a fantastic job....even the foot pedal is pretty

I have a 301 that will need to be painted, at some point, and I love the red. Here is a pic of a 301, painted red, that I found on the internet. But now, after seeing your FW color, I think that this 301 color is too bright but love it anyway:

Gorgeous! I *thought* I didn't like red. But she's fabulous. Never get tired of seeing FWs. Congrats.

WOW - that 301 looks gorgeous, I love it too. What fun to see them in a different color. When I had mine painted, I requested the Lexus red. He said I could choose any car paint color.
