Oh I love that throat space!! mine is only six inches!!what is that silver "cord" coming out of the front??? that looks like it would be in the way to me.

Looks like it may be a knee lift. When pushed with a knee it lowers the presser foot.

GULP. You're really making my mouth water!!!
Last weekend I was in my LQS and treated to the full sales talk about that very machine. I WANT! My Janome 6600 is still performing very nicely, though.
