A friend of mine collects the scraps and then turns them into large pillows for her grandchildren to sit on or toss on the floor.

Great idea! I have saved some of mine to make paper, but they have to be pretty small and it's probably a lot more work than a stuffed pillow!

I save my clippings and threads for animal shelters also. I am working on couple shelter beddings using socks and underwear DH no longer wears. He is not one to donate for someone else to wear. So when he buys socks and undergarments for himself, he will buy a less expensive package and donate those. Undershirts are bit different but when it comes to the feet and lower torso, that can go to the dogs.
