My Old Lady
#15
My DH brought me one from a garage sale last year. I still haven't sewn anything on it yet, maybe it'll be a good winter project. The sale price was $10, our neighbor only wanted $5 since it was going to a good home.

Wow she looks brand new.
I have a treadle that has those kind of bobbins and vibrating shuttle. The only way I could figure out to wind the bobbin was to start it by hand and wrap the thread around the spindle of the bobbin several times before putting it on the machine. Yes, there was much swearing and cussing and fussing about before I successfully wound the bobbin. So if someone does have an easier way I would love to hear it.
I have yet to sew on her because I must not have put the leather belt on tight enough so winding the bobbin stretched it just enough that it isn't grabbing any more. I also need to get needles. I used a standard needle in it and it would not pick up the bobbin thread, I think the needle is too short. Just haven't taken the time to fiddle around with the old girl. I do want to make a quilt top on it though and learn how to treadle.

Holy old thread resurection, but i cant resist, it came up when searching for 128-23's ( i have 2 and parts of a third)
easiest way I have found to wind the bobbin it to position the thread leveler lever all the way to the right and then just capture the thread between the winder and the bobbin, when you insert the bobbin into the winder....... that way it starts all the way to the right and winds even and smooth for the entire spool!
good luck, I love mine!
