Yes there are 4 Y seams. In the 4 corner squares when sewing the star section to them.

I just showed this to my husband as he was walking by. He was really impressed. He said that it looked like fireworks exploding.

I wondered this very thing and when I looked it up it stated it is a form of identity for computer sharing.

Love your quilt! I enjoy paperpiecing also but haven't done it in a very long time. Maybe I should go look at the USL2 Karen Stone pattern to get me started again.
