Sigh....end of quilt on hold. My work colleague has a family emergency and has to return to the UK for at least 3 weeks. I'm needed back to work at 8am tomorrow, so no sewing tomorrow for me.
However, hubby has decided that he wants a bigger quilt, so fortunately I have enough of the fat-q's left to make enough trees and 9-patches for another row and border squares. Might have to try to finish this on the weekend. Oh well....life happens!

It's beautiful! the 9 patch part looks like a trail thru the woods! I love it, and you are doing such a wonderful job! Keep up the good work!

Remember this???
Well today, Tuesday I took as a replacement for the lost day of annual leave. All along I had it figured out that today would be spent with my sewing machine, to finish as much as I could of the trees.
Today I created another 6 9-patches and another tree to add to the new 6 trees I made a weekend or so ago. I then spent over 40 minutes unpicking some seams and reorganising the rows of trees. Once I was happy that there are no two blocks touching the same block, I stitched the strips together. Then the strips in pairs, then a row of three and a row of 4, then voila!!! One whole lot of trees!!
So here is my trusty assistant, holding up the pine trees as they are now. I intend to add a 4"border of green, then a border of the same squares as the 9patch, then another border of the same green again - about 6" wide.
That should make the top big enough to cover with a bit of hangover for a queen size bed.
Hubby is still asking if it will be big enough. I can now take the trees to a fabric shop to find the right fabric for the border. I also have to play with the tape measure to work out how much fabric I will need......but I think I know just which shop to go to as the owners are really nice and helpful.

Thank you all for your support while this project has been growing!

Thank you for sharing your growing forest. A delightful idea. I might get motivated.

The DELPHI Forum sometimes has a Saturday morning meeting/quilt-along.

I am not sure of the time difference but I really like your idea of sharing the days'progress.

Thanks, Kathleen AKA Quilter68
