Hi it was in the Fall edition of Easy Quilts. its called the Ella Quilt and one of the reasons I chose to do it was because that was my grandmothers name, Ella. She brought me up and taught me to knit and sew ( she died when I was 17)-although I was never very good at making clothes, my poor son had a Cookie Monster I made him, with two right arms!! he loved it though. Anyway I saw the pattern and thought it looked a bit funky as well, but the quilting was hard, not like I expected although patterns are always a learning experience I think.
Thanks everyone who left a comment- I am so overwhelmed by all your posts. I wasnt expecting that-so thankyou!

A trick to make your free motion look more even is to steam your quilt. Steam it, let it dry, steam another portion. I actually covered a piece of insulation board so I can do a wider part at a time. I get comments on how flat my quilts are. Now you have my secret.
Oh thanks..I suppose it flattens the quilt before you sew, so you get an even tension? Thankyou for your secret- I wont tell :)

That's adorable! Can't believe it's only your second quilt. You're a natural!
