Hi everyone, I have finally finished my second quilt..made it a bit bigger this time than my first effort. Its a Christmas present for my son and his partner. I saw the pattern in Easy Quilts but made the flowers using Batik. Some parts were very problematic..not least the actual quilting which had to be done in sections-it looked good in the magazine lol but oh my goodness what a lot of work and then I had to machine appliqué the petals to make them puff up and stop them from coming apart from the Bondaweb in the wash! This is also the first FMQ I have done that shows up. More practice needed there I think!!
Anyway wondered what you all thought of it - I surely hope my son likes it! If he doesn't, he could be wearing it after all the hours I put in on it :D

Gorgeous! Did you machine stitch the stems and oultines of the flowers???? They look perfect!

We are always more critical of our work than others are.

That is so true-I am my own worst critic and its so nice on here when everyone is so encouraging- I am learning to smile and say thankyou to everyone instead of being hyper critical about my stitching!!
I hand-stitched the black outlines in back stitch as I only have a basic machine (short-arm) and it doesn't do a running stitch. :-) Thankyou

That's gorgeous! I don't even attempt applique. You're brave. The FMQ looks fine. No worries Girlfriend. Good job.

Very nice work. I'm sure he will love it. I like the added touch of outlining the flowers with the black thread.

If you hadn't told us, I would never guess this is only your second quilt. Beautiful quilt.
