My sewing room has been invaded...

That is absolutely classic!!! Oh my gosh!! I have a 13 year old grandson with whom I live as well. I'll have to show him this and see if I could get him interested.

Gus will be featured in an upcoming post, as will the workshop I'm taking in two weeks (which I paid for the day before they gave us the summer lacrosse tournament schedule).

Ah, the teenage rolling of the eyes. If anyone had told me I would miss that I would have told them not a chance. You are really lucky to be making these memories, even if he is infringing on your space!

Over the years, Gus has spent a lot of time with me at the LQS, including a memorable morning when I had to leave mid-class to collect him from school as he probably had a mild concussion from a bad hockey hit the day before (we had already done the ER visit for that one).
So during that class, he hung out with D at the front counter (I think he was 10 at the time - he is now 13). Every time I go in when D is working, she asks me about him. Most of the ladies there know him.
Saturday we had to run by the LQS and he asked if D was working. When we walked in, she was not at the front and he headed to the back of the store. I suddenly hear "There's my handsome boy" from across the store in a very rich Boston accent. Apparently the admiration is mutual as he told her all about his new Featherweight and asked about getting it serviced (tension is a bit wonky). Then he started picking out bolts of fabric.
Cheers, K

Awww - I sure am hoping that at least ONE of my grandkids will have the interest - and time - to do some sewing with me.
Sounds like you two are having a great time together! (It is kind of tough having to share at times, though!)

That's fantastic! For what it's worth, he will probably utilize all of those skills when he is older. My three boys all have girlfriends/wives that don't know what an iron or sewing machine is, so they do the sewing/pressing as necessary. Better teach him to cook too! Let us see the quilt when he is done!
