I got some old pencil marks out with Oxy clean. put in the sink and sort of rubbed lightly on the marks.

What a beautiful find. Try the erasers that are made for fabric.

Have you tried an eraser? I know it takes forever, but it might work for you. good luck, let us see it when it's quilted.
will you hand quilt it or machine quilt it?
All I know how to do is hand quilting.

Great find! Rather then try to remove the marks, I might get some embroidery floss in a matching greeny/mint and stem stitch on the drawn pattern. It's a pretty pattern and I might repeat the embroidery pattern on all 4 corners on the white and then finish the quilt.

If the marking is from a wood lead pencil, soap and warm water will take it out . I have marked that way before and it washed out fine.

What a great idea, Tartan! It would sure be nice to preserve the quilter's hand work. I must be feeling a little nostalgic today. Somehow, it strikes me as kind sad for someone's work to come to this. Nice though that another quilter found it.
