I have finished all 9 of my memory quilts. They were made from my deceased mothers polyester pants. I made them for her grandchildren.

I made them to be used and enjoyed without worrying about hurting them. The polyester should last a long time and I used recycled hospital blankets in the middle which makes them very warm.

I would like to write a letter to go with each one, since these are really the first quilts I have made. I have read on here about the man on a galloping horse not being able to see the mistakes and I would like to include that in the letters. However I don't remember what the whole thing said.

There are lots of mistakes that quilters would see, but I want them to know that the memories are the important part of the quilts. My quilting skills or lack of should not matter.

Any help or information you can give me will be much appreciated.

I am attaching pictures of the nine quilts.

The striped material are some of her shirts

I think they are awesome. No story needed about a galloping horse. Just tell them its your first quilts made especially for them with their grandma's clothes and lots of love! Every time they wrap up in them it'll be like getting hugs!

I am sure that these quilts be loved because they are full of memories and made with love.
You can write a letter and print it onto the same cloth used for pictures on quilts if you would like to. I've done it and then made a pocket on the back of the quilt to put it in. Just a thought.

I don't know what poem you're referring to. However, I would like to suggest that you write them a sweet note about what these are, and how you feel about them, your mom, stuff like that...and to use them.

I have a granny square afghan my great-great grandma made when I was born. She had written a note to my mom about me and the gift. It's almost as treasured as the afghan.

No one cares about the work...it's the sentiment & memories, in years to come they will treasure.

    Just my thoughts :)
