I think this is a very kind, thoughtful & generous thing to do. And they will be so meaningful! I love the idea. You have done well dear one & I know you will certainly be appreciated for making them. Do not take this to the bank because I am often wrong, but I think I remember the saying along this line: If you pass by on a galloping horse & cannot see any mistakes, then it is a job well done on the making the quilt.

These will last forever and are very warm. I have 8 double knit quilts my grandmother hand pieced between 35 and 40 years ago and they are still in very good shape. And they have been used, to make a tent at the kitchen table, to have a picnic in the floor in the living room, to layer 3 or 4 to make a pallet on the floor or yes and to keep warm with. They have been used daily for many years. I hand tied all of them, some of them to pre-quilted fabric, some to other pieces of double knit and some to sheets. They will treasure these forever.

Nice memories and they will be treasured and give you a chance to talk about those memories often. Good job!

You could type your letter on the computer and then print it on Printed Treasures. Printed Treasures is a fabric that has paper on the back so you can run it thru your printer. Then you peel off the paper and stitch it on the back of each quilt. That way, the letter stays with the quilt with no chance of it getting lost. I did that with a quilt my MIL started and I finished for her after she died. It's a nice keepsake.

awesome quilts. I have buckets of polyester from my best friends stash. don't know what I'm going to do with it all. where did you get your blankets for the middle? I would love to have a source. They make the perfect "batting".

The way I heard the expression is "No one will see it from a gallping horse" I also like the one "It a hundren years who will care?" You have done a great job for the 9 grands and it is a wonderful way to keep her memory alive! They look perfect to me.

    Ronna,
Sorry I cannot give you exact source of blankets. My girlfriend gets them from a friend. He has an agreement with some hospitals, he picks them up and he cuts up a lot of them to sell for rags to garages.
