They're both nice, but I think I prefer the first one (the plain black), as it doesn't demand any attention to itself, but frames the quilt very nicely. Beautiful quilt!

I like both.
Actually, I would use a red that matched, but not that same print.
It looks gorgeous in the blocks, and I love the quilt with the color, but not so much of the same print.
Without it, the quilt doesn't look quite finished to me, although I can see why someone would say it's elegant without it.
One way is bare...the other way is close to overdone...lol, now I am contradicting myself. I said I liked them both.
ok, leaving it up to you...it's straining my brain, but I LOVE the colors! :XD:

I would do a narrow red and a wider black.

Lots of suggestion being given here. I'm adding another one. I would do a black border the same width as the black in your squares. I think such large bold block deserve a bolder frame to finish it, then the red floral (which I also assume is your side drop so can be in what ever width you need for the drop and bind in the black or the red floral.

Great quilt - it's lovely either way but for on a bed I like the suggestion of a narrow black border (same as in the blocks) then the red print border for the drop. Aren't you sorry you asked??? LOL

I like the 2nd one and I would add a black framing border between the red and cream and use them both, then finish with the black binding pulling it all together.
