One of my favorite blocks! While you did a great job making sure that the colors carry throughout, I might try a slightly different combination. I found that only using three colors worked better for me. When I get home I can send a picture of one of my blocks if that might help.
Yes, thank you that would.
Here you go....I think the difference is not just that I used three fabrics, but that the darker are used on the HST creating the visual of the diagonal, rather than the square.
Let's try again...
I like it. Thanks for posting it.

I like number 2 the best - but will the directional print cause problems when you assemble the larger blocks?

Cheers, K

too busy and eyes are moving everywhere
show me the quilt you want to makeI think the floral and stripe do not go together
too much movement in the fabricsa for me
you need to think of scale, value and pick one fabric to be your focal fabric
love the block

Tammy
I think you should use them all, make some more of each and put them in a large quilt.
Have a Blessed day

Personally, I would use all three in the quilt. This is a lovely very old design. Love the small prints to show off the darker print. Helen

I think I agree with Mosquitosewgirl; try switching your materials. If you sew them together like this, without sashing, you'll end up with large 4-squares of dark material at each corner and the light material in the middle may get overlooked. I personally like block #3 best without the stripes. Try cutting out one block with your floral in the squares and the darker in the center triangles. My eyes are drawn right to the dark squares, and I'm not sure if that's the effect you want; I'm not familiar with this quilt either, so it's hard to judge from a single patch.

I like the last one the best. The striped fabric, imho, is too loud.

Thank you everyone for your honest feedback. The more I look at it the more I also seem to like the idea of using a sashing and doing block number 3. I think the stripe fabric is what is bothering me about this block. Think I will save that for another project. Maybe something in a assorted pallet of browns. I will post picture when I get further into it.
