"Nesteldecken" or "twiddle blankets"

I have seen some of clients with these types of things except worn as an apron. They are well accepted by the residents of memory-care facilities and caregivers both. Great use for old keys, decorative bits and pieces of ribbon or rickrack, etc. One even had a small spatula and spoons attached.

What a wonderful thing that you are doing for those patients. I have a friend suffering from dementia and I see her struggle with even day to day things we would take for granted, and the things you make should help them cope.

The measurements: there are no "hard" prescriptions, I use blocks of size about 8"x8", sometimes I made 4x4 blocks, sometimes 3x4 blocks... Ending measurement about 32 to 35 inches of square blankets. The scarfs are about 8" wide: the left overs when I cut the 8x8 inches blocks, and about 50" long!!
Some importent notices: everything must be fixed very strong, so that it won't go off while someone is twiddling!!! And all stuff should be washable!!!
And I also want to say a big "THANK YOU" to all of you out there for your praise and blessings, you are all so kind!!!

And if you are sewing such a blanket for someone you know it would be very nice if you can get stuff this person will remember: an old apron, a pillow case, a shirt..... something with a kind of memo value!!!
