Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I really do like the effect of cutting apart blocks and sewing them back together into star units but working with all that bias was a pain. I also quilt on a longarm and all the bias even with borders can cause some aggravation. I guess I just want to pass on what I learned by trying to do a "quick and easy" technique.

Your quilt is beautiful and thank you for sharing. I made this quilt about a year ago and I love how it looks but you are right about the bias edges. There was a lot of movement because of the bias but it was worth it. Don't know if I would do it again though.

I like your fabrics, doesn't look like it was easy. This is on my bucket list, thanks for the heads up on all the bias,. mybe that's why it keeps getting put on the bottom of the list.
Enjoy the process and enjoy using the quilt, its done!

Very pretty quilt. You did a great job. I found out a long time ago that it is seldom as easy as it looks watching the MSQC videos. I can usually tell that it's going to be as simple or easy by the pattern. If I do decide to make the quilt anyway, I take my time and work slowly. Then I am satisfied.

Beautiful quilt-- you did a great job picking fabrics for this pattern.
PS- When I'm working with lots of bias edges I use heavy starch (made using 50/50 mix of Stayflo and water to help stabilize everything. Then I saturate the fabric with the mix and let it get nearly dry before ironing-- comes out feeling like paper, but makes working with bias much easier. I have done this both before cutting and after while doing the piecing, both ways work pretty well.
