    Dunster,
Excuse me for butting in. You could incorporate doilies into your quilts by tacking them down with tiny little stitches, but it would be a lot of work. You would need to tack them down well, because if the quilt is washed, the doilies will relax. If the quilt was a wall hanging that wouldn't be washed, of course you wouldn't have to be so finicky with the tacking down.

Hey Judyjo, have you tried the rubbery thingy that slides onto a steel crochet hook? It is for arthritic folks. I use one for fine thread crochet and it really helps.

You do beautiful work. Love all the patterns. How long did it take you to do all these?

I never heard of the rubbery thing. Where do I get one. I still might have a problem because I noticed I had trouble holding on to the fine thread but I'll give anything a try!

I have used the "rubbery thing" on my crochet hooks. They work very nicely but are very difficult for me to get on the hook.

I have seen there are now crochet hooks with chubby handles, but I'm not sure if they come in the small sizes needed for doilies. And that still doesn't help if you have trouble handling the thread.

I have only one of the chubby hooks in an H and have not seen any in small doily hook size.
