Absolutley beautiful!!! If anything ever tempts me to do hand sewing this will for sure. I agree w/ others who have posted, I would be very interested in seeing your fabrics before selective cutting, and how you decide on fabrics to use

great fabric choices. Mine will go under the quilting needle in a few days. Amazing quilt pattern isn't it?

Kassaundra, I'm not good at putting fabrics together, so I bought a panel featuring a peacock and used the color dots from the selvage to find the fabric colors. This is the first quilt I've purchased fabric for since October 2001. It was kind of weird doing so

These fabrics are very interesting - and the pattern ? This has to be paper-pieced, right (EPP)? Can't wait to see the finished project with 3000 pieces OMG!

Thanks for the picture. I think the look of this style is stunning. I doubt I'd do a whole quilt, but a few wall hangings as framed art may be in my future.

I find symmetrical patterns of medium scale get lots of use. You can see the purple damask pattern used 5 times in just these rosettes. I especially love how it looks in the outter border of the lower left wheel. I also think it is easier to mix fabrics that have only one or two colors and to keep the wheels limited to a few colors ie purple black and green. I have been throwing in lots of funky green because I love it and think it works with purple. Hope this helps.

Susan, Your hexies are so subtle and beautiful - I just love your colors and patterns. Are you doing the New Hexagon book Quiltalong or are you using the Millefiori book by Willynne Hammerstein?
