because these are needed so fast I am only tying the quilts and running a stitch in the ditch around the inside of the outside boarders before adding the binding. That is the quickest way I know to get them done and out the door. Also note that I am not using normal batting, it would not stay put with the tying I do. I use the inexpensive 100% polyester blankets that are ugly but look and work really good made into quilts. I shrink them first so there is no problem with that after the quilts are made. Been doing them this way for years, I just can't afford the batting and my kids say these are much warmer anyway.

Someone mentioned lap quilts, those are very much needed by the vets but mine are 54" by 78" so they can fit the 30" by 75" cots they use.
