Mary, I will be glad to take pics and show you how the bags attach. But we haven't attached them yet, and it will probably be one of the last things we do. There is alot of work for the room just going into the counter part.lol So I knew that he would be having to climb under there quite a bit so I decided not to put the hangers in until done. but what they are is the little screws that you use in like the kitchen cabinets to hold coffee cups. One on either side of the opening to hold the bag up and open. But I will be posting more pics as we go along. lol
I understand. Thanks for doing it later.just in case I forget to post later.I do some craft wood work and 1 of my son-in-laws does cabinet and furniture building. So I can see where he might get hurt on the hooks.Mary

Why holes in the counter? Because I hate threads all over the floor. I've had to deal with that forever. And this will take care of that. Where the holes are cut, there will be those plastic shopping bags hung so that while sewing all my little snippets will go down the hole into the bag. When done I can just remove the bag and throw it into the trash! Yeah!!!! I know cabinets can't be built like this in the stores because they have no idea where you would be sitting your machines and what size they are. But when you have your DH doing the work, you can do it like this.lol This is just one of several ideas I plan to be putting in this room to make my life easier.lol
LOL, at least I'd know where my pins and my nippers and my pencils were! Great idea for you. Just wouldn't work for me at all.

Nice idea, very ergonomic, and I love the scalloped edges on the counter! Lucky you to have such a talented husband - my husband to be (come July 2, YAY ME) can barely change a lightbulb! The running joke is that "it's so easy, even Steve can handle it!"

My DH said #1 white pine. Pictures don't do the wood justice for how it looks.

habits are hard to break....I keep my machines on the very edge of my counter top and a trash can at arms reach every where for scrape pieces of fabrics that are too small to keep,,,but I'm also like Ellener Burns....I catch myself throwing stuff over my shoulder too...keeps me laughing all day....My husband still doesn t get that part !!! he just keeps buying trash cans for me and everytime he walks thru my shop he sweeps the floor for me...and I say" thank you honey"....I love it !!!!!

that is exactly what I was thinking...I keep the seam ripper, lint brush, snippers, etc there under the edge of my extension table...I do keep a bag on either side of that though for threads!...

Lol how funny! Yes, I often say I am pretending to be Elleanor Burns. I get a kick out of her show. And nothing like getting history lessons while sewing.lol
