maybe try taking out the plaid and replacing with some green i think that is what i see in the pattern blocks

I was going to suggest this, too. That will pull some of the green out of the print and make it pop.

I like that you changed the cornerstones to the floral. Maybe you could use the lighter fabric you have in the first picture to do a narrow border then do a wider border out of the floral and bind with the dark purple.

Something you might try that I did on one of mine that 'just didn't quite look right' was to add an accent to the cornerstone that gave it a bit more zing. You could add some bling, if this would be appropriate to the recipient, or you could just add a second square of fabric on top of the cornerstone. This could either be a smaller contrasting square or another square on point, of one of your main fabrics.

Wrote the above before you changed the cornerstones to the floral. Really like that change! It brightens it up and ties it all together.
