Since it's a keepsake top, I would be grateful to you for all the restoration efforts you made. I know some people like unwashed quilts but I'd rather have a clean, sweet-smelling one, even with a bit of fading. I have two old tops in need of some TLC before they're ready to quilt but when completed, the imperfections are part of the charm.

Debbie, it looks to me like the lady more than got her money's worth! It looks beautiful, and like the lady and her daughter, I don't think the bleeding distracts too much. It definitely has a "vintage" look; it is soft and colorful, and I'll bet they love it!
I am from Huntsville; my MIL's family is from Summerville, not too far from you!

Thanks everyone! Every time I see this lady, she tells me that her daughter hasn't taken the quilt off her bed yet....she was her grandmother's favorite, and she feels closer to her late DGM with this wrapped around her. I'm just glad she doesn't have hard feelings about the fabrics bleeding, which they would've done anyway, whoever washed it.
