I had the same problem with my first OBW, I picked the wrong fabric, or didnt cut it small enough, I dont know what! I saved it by adding triangles, it brought the focus back to each individual hex.

Yes there is the same amount of each color in each patch. I like the blue added or was even thinking that you could put in some cubes. I think I really prefer the blue you added.

Try it again and use a bigger print because they really are fun
