Good choice of fabrics. I too love the curvy log cabin.

Beautiful! My first quilt was a log cabin in an "ABC" class. Only 12 blocks for the lap quilt and that seemed overwhelming at the time. I've not seen this curved layout and I love it! Thanks for the inspiration to go back to this.
Take your time and enjoy the journey.

It looks like you're going to have one gorgeous quilt! Take your time, enjoy what you're creating, and if it gets to be too much, put it away for a while. Be sure to show us the finished product.

It's all about the journey not how long it takes to get there. My first quilt was a cathedral window hand made quilt. (About 5 years on that one) Next was a hand pieced and hand quilted sampler quilt, about 3-4 years on that one. I made lots of quilts in-between. Now I'm starting a Baltimore Album appliqué quilt, which I pick up in the evenings and sew a little or take to appointments with me. If it takes a year, so be it. Fulfillment.

When I made mine, I assembled it like Jan describes making several blocks at once in a chain piece method. I also precut my logs to size, not all of them. I would cut some, make some, lather rinse repeat. Another thing I did to speed up assembly was I finger pressed between logs and only iron pressed when the block was complete. I made 6.6" unfinished blocks and had a grand total of 168 blocks. It was my "mindless" sewing project and I was able to sew blocks together even when I only had 10 or 15 minutes to sit down to sew. It seemed to go together quickly. What took a long time was waiting its turn to quilt it.
It is one of my favorite quilts and is my regular bed quilt. Here is a link to pics I posted of it. Scrappy log cabin clam shell setting

It's gorgeous! Going to be a masterpiece... Just take your time and enjoy the making. Eleanor Burns has a fun way to chain piece log cabins. Check out any of her log cabin books.
