    It could be valuable to a collector. Not sure where one would look to find a collector though. There should be sites online about buttons.

    my oval picture frames have the same kind of relief on them.... I think they are a kind of plaster

    My DH says he thinks it is ceramic center with the brass front edge and backing of the button crimped over it to hold it in place. I myself have no clue, but it sure is beautiful.
