Ok here is a pic of it on the bed... I think it works! I think it could have even been longer on the sides LOL. Please don't mind the bedrail and mess on the walls. He likes to decorate himself LOL

Thanks so much everyone for encouriging me to keep it the way it is! I love it and I was stressing over nothing. I can't wait to quilt it now. too bad we are leaving for vacation tomorrow :(

This is gorgeous! Waaaaaay too beautiful to trim......

Make another one to the size specifications you want ....

If he's seen this, he has probably already fallen in love with it....... Besides: He'll grow into this one in no time - perhaps demand a bigger bed ...... So let him enjoy it tremendously in the meantime just wrapping himself in it .... don't worry about it, even if you feel it is out of proportion ....

I didn't notice your "location" ..... If you are in a cold clime area: there is No-such-thing as a "too big" quilt in the deepest part of winter ....

That's exactly what I was thinking. If it's way too big--make another smaller one, but don't change this beautiful piece!!!
i agree with karla, and i also loved the idea of the risers. or just save it. later on, this will be a good size for a double bed.

these things happen to all of us, so remember, measure twice, cut once

EDIT: i definitely see space in there for a double bed.

It is beautiful and I would not take it apart. If it is too big, make another one smaller.

Just tuck it in under the pillows a ways and it will be fine. It's a good looking quilt so enjoy what you've produced!

really? It won't hang off his bed on the sides? I don't want it dragging on the floor....
get some bed risers at walmart. They are little plastic cups that go under the legs to make the bed taller. So you can also store more stash under his bed! Way less work than removing borders! They are cheap, too!
