You did great. SID or overall meander would work fine. Your meander could look like roping if you get teh right moves going. Good job.

Since you stated that it was a "quickie" quilt and mentioned that you didn't have time to do all hats and boots, I would fmq it. You did a great job btw, I love it.

That is wonderful. Don't you dare discard it. It's perfect. Personally I would FMQ. I just finished my first one and once I got past my fears and just dove in, I loved it. I just felt such freedom. That's not to say I didn't make many mistakes but, we can only get better, right? Go for it. The family will love it no matter how you quilt it.
