:D I saw this pattern in a magazine and loved it! It was a chance to use some big patterned fabrics I didn't want to cut up. It was a little tricky coming up with 5 colors for the strips and what order to put them in, but I love how it came out. I'm making another one using this pattern--but I made everything smaller. The colors for that one were trickier! :? But I love what I found--after many trips to several quilt shops. :D I'll be finishing that next. This one is not quilted yet--I'm getting a small pile to ready for the quilters. Sure wish I could quilt them--but I have no patience for it and it never comes out quite right with my old small machine. What a joy it is to hand it all off to Jill and pick it up done! :D I love to bind them though, so I always have that left to do.

The last picture is of the material I'm using for the next one!! 8)

Oh--I have another great idea I tried for large scale prints...it's a wall hanging I just need to sew the binding on--which I should get finished by tonight--I'll post pictures when I'm done. I like the new idea better than this one even. Although--this one was incredibly easy.

That's great  I love the way you've used the graduated values to frame your print.

Hi Joy! The pattern was on the cover of Better Homes and Gardens Creative Collection--Quilts and more, summer 2006. What a mouthful! :D It's called Calypso.

I didn't follow anything close to the color scheme they used, so it's hard to recognize they're the same pattern. (Hmm, mine does not look like a Calypso.)

It called for a wide 3rd border (7"!!!) of the big print to be added, but after consulting with my 17 yr old daughter and 10 year old barn buddy--they both said it'd be too busy. So, I stopped.

The pattern says to cut the strips 1 3/4" wide, and the large print squares 6 3/4". But, I've always liked smaller pieces (I know, I know, punishing!) so I cut the strips for the next one at 1 1/2", just to see how it looks. I don't know if I'll add more to make it bigger--not planning on it now.

This is a great pattern to see in all different colors!!
