It will be great when you get to quilt it as it is much more fragile and at risk of damage just as a top. Brilliant colours and a great thing to look forward to doing. Great to have some quilting heritage.

Beautiful quilt and how lucky for you to have them in your family. Wonderful heirloom and one for you to someday quilt will be such an honor to your ancestors!

Maybe you and mom are close enough for you to visit, and you could quilt it while it is still her's? Beautiful quilt.

In keeping with the period that she may have made it - it is called "Star of Bethlehem".

I actually live here with my mom and dad... my mom requires a lot of care and is pretty much bed bound so I stay here and take care of her. I would love to quilt it... and will hopefully be able to do it as soon as I learn to quilt lol. That is one thing my grandmother never got around to teaching me and that was to quilt.. she taught me cutting and piecing but died before she could teach me the quilting process... but I will learn soon and this will be the first project on my list to quilt... then I will move on to another of my great grandmothers tops that she did probably about 80 or 90 years ago.... its a Trip around the World top... Will take pics and post here soon.
