I have a best friend that is also undergoing chemo. I made her a 48 X 60 quilt/throw. It has pink panters on it. I took it to church and the elders laid hands and the preacher said a prayer over it. Now she takes it with her every time she goes for a treatment. I think your friend will love anything you make for her cause it will be from your heart.

a lot of very old traditional quilts have a very modern feeling. hunter's star, for example. white and any one color sort of modernizes it. even rob peter looks contemporary. i think its beautiful and wouldn't hesitate to gift it.

Many times primitive antiques, in their simplicity, are very modern. It's very pretty, and an interesting pattern. I think she'll like it!

I really need to post my pics. Did this in black/gold/and white, musical fabric. Just have to quilt it. Have it pinned. I will have to take pic of it.
This is such and easy quilt, but you are right, may be to modern. I love the idea of reversible topper:) Either way your friend can't go wrong:)

This is very striking, but is it too wide?

I think it's just great the way it is, and as others have said, you are making and giving it from the heart. Regarless of if your neighbour uses it as a toppper, or a means of warmth, which I think more likely, I'm sure she will love and treasure it always. Finish it as you planned, and give your neighbour thhis most beautiful gift to cherish whilst she is in this most vulnerable state. All my thoughts and prayers go out to her.

That is what inspired only two colors. My Gramdmother had one that was only red and white. I will post the finished project when I get that far!!
