    Paducah Quilt Show, Fall 2018

Here are some photos of what I saw and loved at the Fall Paducah Show in Sept. Some show the whole quilt, and some are merely close ups of quilting detail I was particularly interested in. I can only post 10 photos per post, so I will be making multiple posts in this thread. Please wait until I am finished to comment. Thanks!

I believe the black lines are 'couching'. Just incredible!

Mind-blowing beauty and talent here. I'm gobsmacked. Especially some of the art quilts and some of the quilting itself. I'd love to be able to crawl into the minds of these geniuses.

Beautiful beautiful work. I guess living near the National Quilt Museum must up the competition. This amount of quality work is shared EVERY Fall? OMG

Actually, they have an even bigger show every Spring. They expanded to add a Fall show as well, only two years ago. This is only the second Fall show in Paducah. It’s wonderful!

Thank you so much for taking and sharing so many wonderful pics Showbiz! The talent out there is mind boggling. Many of those quilts I have seen before as they have been traveling the show circuit for several years, like Margaret Solomen Gunn's quilt "Twisted Sister". Someday I will get to Paducah for quiltweek. Is the fall BOS still a viewers choice or did they go back to strictly judged? I recall being a bit put off by many major quilters in the final competition asking for votes on social media, their blogs and websites so in my mind it turned into a popularity contest rather than judging the quilt on its merits. Even though people were choosing from a selection the judges had made. For an award as major as the BOS at Paducah, carrying a prize purse of $10K to turn it into a "Vote for me" blitz on the internet just seemed to trivialize it in my mind.
