Ok ladies and gents, I have cut all the strips for a quilt called Paint by number in the August 2007 American Patchwork magazine. This will be for my oldest daughter as a wedding present, not yet engaged , but probably soon. She loved the pattern when she saw it and it will e a surprise for her. This is the layout of the strips that I have-does it look ok to you. There are supposed to be 28 strips , but I ended up with 29.

Fabulous quilt! Your fab choices look perfect to me. Please post pics as you progress. I love bargello quilts but don't have the nerve to try one yet.

Lovely. So pretty. I love those bargello quilts but they look very intimidating.

I'd be careful with the white one, it might stand out too much. The rest are terrific.

Great fabrics and pattern! I haven't done a bargello, but wonder if you don't have the number of fabrics it calls for, wouldn't it turn out looking different?

    I agree!
I want to make one, but am afraid I will mess it up.

this one seems pretty straight forward. sew strips together, make a tube, cut various widths, sew back together, add borders.

I hope you'll be able to work with precuts or are you going to have to cut them all.

Duh!!!! I just noticed your first statement was that you'd just finished cutting them.

Oh...hard to tell from here, the distance and angle (lol). I still like the colors. Someone on another thread about bargellos suggested making the pic black and white to see how the colors work together that may help you decide on the order better or even which one stands out too much.

Gosh, I'm not usually a fan of bargellos but I really like the pattern that you picked and your fabrics are great!!! The only one I'm wondering about is the yellow...it's intensity seems greater than the other fabrics. Don't know if that's okay with bargellos...this is just what caught my eye looking at my computer screen. (And I know things can look different on each computer). Best of luck with this! She'll love it!

i agree with the posting that the yellow seems to vibrant with the others. if the instructions call for 28 strips i would use 28, not 29. will it make a difference?? i don't know.

I would be a bit concerned about the Number 1 strip. I think the white in it may cause a problem.

what karenm36 said-- this is one of the few bargellos I've seen that I've liked. Makes me even consider doing one... mmm....
