Default Paperweight baby quilt

I made this for the great granddaughter of a fellow volunteer. I used the pattern Paperweights from Aardvark, but I made the octagons smaller. The pattern calls for 45" fabric. None of mine is that wide. I used fabric from my stash plus some border fabric. I cut the border fabric like the kaleidoscope quilts to make four of the octagons. The picture of the whole quilt isn't as bright as the actual quilt.

What a charming quilt. I'm curious as to how it is put together. Are the octagons then joined to triangles with lots of y-seams?

Never mind. I think I see -- triangles added to four sides to create a square block?

It was put together with the "kites." The quilt was a lot of fun to make until I had to put it together. I think if I hadn't changed the size of the octagons and had had a good template for the kites, I would have had an easier time.
