Patriotic quilt - can you spot the mistake?

I would make another flag and cover up the old one. You have created a beautiful quilt however you will never be happy with and it will continue to bother you. You have put so much work in to it, I think you will be sorry if you don't fix it.

You can see here the blue should be more than half as deep as the stripe: http://www.usflag.org/flagspecs.html
If you applique a strip of star fabric right beneath what you have, I think it will look much better and you wouldn't have to redo much quilting at all.

I know what you mean about it bugging you and you will never be happy with it unless you change it. Could you sew a piece of white covering the rows that are extra or make a new flag with the correct number of strips only wider to cover the existing flag and sew on top of the incorrect flag by hand and then quilt it. Don't know if either of these ideas would work but just suggestions.

I would like the name of the star pattern on the patriotic quilt.
I found one block of this star in a thrift store bag of fabric remnants. I like it so much and would like to make some more of this block for a quilt.
