Yes, Karla, mine is a singe. I used the cardinal fabric for the big square and then 2 colors for the 9 patch. So, 3 in all. It's pretty easy. I just had to square everything and hope for the best. I'm not the best when it comes to that. I do have a couple seams that are off, but you really cannot tell.
Just take a chance and do it!!

strip piecing is great, but i recommend you divide your fabrics into fat quarters before cutting your strips. it's easier to get nice straight cuts when you aren't working with the whole width of fabric. it's also easier to control the strips as you feed them through the machine to help keep the seams straight.

you do great work. i know your IC is going to turn out beautifully. :-)

I find it hard to believe that you have never done an Irish Chain. I have every confidence in the world that you will do a wonderful job. Can't wait to see the finished product. This was one of my first projects, a single Irish Chain, still yet to be completely finished, but.....

That's a great idea. I did notice with the cat step one that it was easier to work with 20" strips.

Wow--ICs look like so much fun because of what you can do to the solid block. I think I'd want to use a big print I don't want to cut into smaller pieces. Those appliques are a neat idea--Barb. I love seeing the colors everyone picked.

Keep them coming, I know there are more out there. :D

Karla, here are the cardinal and blue Christmas ones I did.

It's not the entire quilt, but you can see where I used the print as the big squares. I didn't fussy cut them either, they just came out that way.

I need to edit my last post when I said I used 3 colors. I'm sorry, but I only used 2 colors for each one.
