LOL n2--I made this quilt several years ago. I can tell as it’s HQ (SID in blocks and then diagonally in borders). But my technique was a little different. For each block I used one 1” x 2” rectangle and four 1” x 1 ˝” rectangles. Two of the small rectangles were place right angles to each other then diagonally stitched across the end at a 45 degree angle. Trim off excess. Repeat this with second set of small rectangles. Next sew the three units together—pieced unit/large rectangle/pieced unit to create a 2” square. I made 36 of these.
The outer blocks use 2 large rectangles--pieced unit/large rectangle/large rectangle to create a 2” square. I made 28 of these.

Thank you, G, for sharing the pic of your beautiful little mini with us and the technique. Some people may want to use your pattern as well! My pattern was free from McCalls Quilting that I just scaled down to suit my size. I like the dark stars best with the light backgrounds, but your technique requires less piecing but I think I would be confused on which would be my outer blocks. I like to change things once I get them on the design wall and pieced as I can move blocks around so that technique would not suit me well. I know I would later find an outer block I would want used as an inner block and that wouldn't work. But for some people, it would be ideal and much less piecing. I think with scraps it looks great with dark stars or light stars!! Thanks for sharing with us!! Love your little mini!!

:D :D 8-)

Great minds think alike! I scaled my block down from a full sized quilt I saw in a LQS window. I think the original block finished at 6 inches not 1 1/2"!

Anything scrappy is fun. I'm a big fan and this one is great! The stars are perfect.
