Yes, they are addictive - and very free!

The things you have done are super. I don't think that you can do wrong when you are sewing scraps together. BrendaK

I'll buy old dress patterns at yard sales, iron them, cut into 7" squares. After sewing strips on them, trim to 6.5".
It is very addictive. So far I have 86 pieces.

They look terrific! I've never done one but want to someday.

They look great! The only advice I could offer would be to alternate the direction of your seams. It keeps the piece from skewing even when making small blocks.

Mannem what a great idea! I am sure I have a 'few' ancient patterns kicking around and I am going to try that!

I've been making a few of these lately and have found it easier for me to use a foundation, otherwise I get them all skewed because of the many bias edges. Can't wait to see what you make with them.

starch and press and they should lay flatter.
btw; I love string quilts and have made many. I am finishing up a crazy quilt made with my strings; always wanted to do a crazy quilt and now I have and probably never again, too many decorative stitches on my machine trying to get it quilted. But, I do love just string piecing. Thanks for sharing.
