    Default Practicing

I am taking a Craftsy class called Quilting in Negative Spaces. And I ordered a ruler foot for my Juki...mainly to do SID, because I just can't SID on the frame no matter how I hard I try. My ruler foot came in the mail this morning. So, I took a piece of sheet and started practicing the tiles that are in the class. You are supposed to match your thread to the color of the fabric which will hide your mistakes and where you get out of line, and they say it will then give "texture" to a quilt. I didn't match the thread so I could see where I was going. I used a gold/brown multicolor thread & a dark brown thread in the bobbin, and you can see everywhere I lost my way...lol. But, with lots more practice I may get brave enough to do it on an actual quilt. I have the quilt top made that's for the class, but don't know if I'll do the tiles. I do think I'm going to like using a ruler. Do you think they look like tiles?

Nice! I have found once the quilt is washed (rinsed) the lines will blend. Mine do.

I think it is time to give up practicing and start quilting a quilt.

looks pretty good to me. I'm impressed that your spacing is so even on each pattern.

Looks perfect to me. I don't do SID. I quilt about a 1/4" from the ditch and I like that neater look much better. I only use a DSM for quilting.
