That is fantastic! I keep staring at it trying to figure out where the blocks are and still havent quite figured it out!

I will soon be faced with quilting a top with lots of close and overlaping seams. Any tips?

I had to slow it down some and I wound up using a Jeans needle. Batiks can be a bit difficult on their own but add in the amount of bulk from the seams and the Quilting and Sharp needles weren't cuttin it. The thread kept breaking. I also wound up using Isocord thread in the top and Bottom Line thread in the bobbin. They were strong enough for the abuse LOL. I also avoided the very worst of the bulk that was right in the dead center where so many segments met. It was colorful enough that it wasn't noticable.

the [very talented] designer has alternated a public domain block known as a twisted log cabin (among other names) with a star block of the same size. she also took the time to figure out which colors go where to form the ribbons. even if you're lucky enough to have the pattern already built into a quilting program, it would take quite some time to color it in. my hats off to her and to lin for doing the design such beautifaminous justice.

    :P :P :P :P

Thank you Patrice! And you're exactly right. She said she plugged the twisted log cabin design into her EQ6 program to figure out how she wanted to place the blocks and how she wanted to distribute color. She's made this up in several color ways. I loved her red, black, and white version the best! The many, many seams make this a bit tedious, but truthfully, it's not that hard to construct, just time consuming. It looks more difficult than it is. :)

I admire people who can create patterns like this from block designs. (not my forte :) ) I think our very own Fly_V does that very well!

What can I say but WOW!!! Boy I wish I liked to paper piece, but can't stand picking all that paper off when you're done sewing. So very impressed with your quilt!!!
