How wonderful of you all to do this. I will be researching this and the homes in my area. Thank you for sharing.

Dollyo 12-20-2012 06:12 AM

How wonderful that many of you will be doing the "Comfort Wraps" for charity next year. I thank you for all of your comments on our project. I look forward to seeing what you make for next year. As my DH just said, "Don't wait until October to start". We will be doing another project for next year. Don't know what yet. Am looking for ideas. Pay it forward everyone!!

I just love these wraps and thank you for sharing them. I wonder if they could be made from fleece to speed up the process for quick gifts.

Caswews 12-20-2012 06:20 AM

How wonderful .. Bless you

I don't see why not. Maybe 3 pieces, the center - 1 color or print, then the sleeves another color or print. Whatever works.

Never saw or heard of these wraps. A great project you and yours took on. They will be appreciated. :)

gabeway 12-20-2012 07:22 AM

Cogratulations on a great job! You did a good thing!

cherrio 12-20-2012 07:26 AM

I am going to promise (myself) that I will do at least 2 a month next year. I do think I will back a few of them with fleece for extra warmth. I crocheted lap quilts 3 yrs ago for a local nursing home and noticed the room where the folks gathered to socialize and play cards etc was on the cool side. Bet these would be well received. does it take a whole jelly roll for just one? I have a red/wht/blu roll I will do as there are veterens. and gonna make a few quilted glasses cases. those are fat quarter handy and if made all diferent it is easy to see where they left "their" glasses. keep the ideas coming. pay it forward is a wonderful idea

Just beautiful! Your kindness obviously knows no bounds!

BJquilt 12-20-2012 07:42 AM

Very lovely and thoughtful. I like that idea of being around the neck. Will see what I can come up with. Thanks for sharing.

Super nice gesture.

A fabulous team effort! I love the comfort quilts and sure the recipients of them will be thrilled. Bless you all for thinking of the wheelchair bound patients.

Geri B 12-20-2012 08:05 AM

I think I will suggest this to our guild as a sort of group project.........

GrannieAnnie 12-20-2012 08:35 AM

My shoulders would love one of these! Thanks for the pics

omaluvs2quilt 12-20-2012 09:08 AM

What a sweet thing to do. I remember when my grandma was in assisted living and there were some that were very lonely...God Bless and Merry Christmas!

Geri B 12-20-2012 09:58 AM

I wonder if these could be made with fleece....just cut out and blanket stitch the edge...would that work ladies???????????They would work up faster, and easier for the recipient to handle.....lightweight, easy to clean ????????????

My DSIL used up the bits and pieces that we had left over from doing several of these, kind of like the jelly roll race quilt, sewed them end to end, then cut them to size. She also used leftover bindings for a scrappy binding. We used 10 yds of fabric that she had planned for the back of her bed quilt, then decided she hated it. We used John Flynn's diagonal backing when we were just a tad short on backing fabric. We are looking for something to do next year, starting right after Jan 1, not October. So if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Do you have a Veterans Home nearby. I am sure they would love some of those.

nannyrick 12-20-2012 12:12 PM

What a wonderful thing you all did. They are beautiful. Bless all of you.

Comfort Wraps

I love these. I'm 68 and have been collecting material for years. This would be a great way to use much of it. I could probably do the measuring myself, but would like to know yours. I think even my husband would like one. He is cold natured. Yours are wonderful. liz

The pattern is at http://www.modabakeshop.com/2010/08/pure-comfort.html It has all of the instructions to make them, even an adjustment for plus size or taller than 5'10" people.

I along with so many other's think this is such a wonderful thing that you've inspired other's of us to reach out and perhaps do the same in our neighborhoods. Thank-you for posting this and your pictures, just wonderful! The collaborative effort of all of you ladies is a true Christmas Story that warms my heart.

QuiltnNan 12-20-2012 02:50 PM

debcavan 12-20-2012 04:13 PM

I am a volunteer at a number of facilities, so I know how much these are needed and appreciated. And they are gorgeous

sewdamncute 12-20-2012 07:04 PM

That was a beautiful thing to do, they look wonderful and I'm sure they will be well used and loved!

caspharm 12-20-2012 08:01 PM

Thanks for the link. It looks like a great idea.

Wendys Quilts 12-21-2012 02:36 AM

The ones I make I backed with flannel and are nice to feel. I love to use mine. Especially when I need to let my dogs outside. Just throw that wrap on and go lol. My dad saw the ones I made once when he visited and im lucky he didnt sneak one in his suitcase when they went home lol. So I made him and my mom one this year for Chrstmas :)

These are really nice. I need to look up this pattern. Looks like something my mother could use.

sustraley 12-21-2012 04:02 AM

How wonderful. They are great.

JoyjoyMarie 12-21-2012 04:31 AM

Love your collaboration and your pattern. Our group has made lap quilts for seniors for some years now, but I think this would be a terrrific upgrade to what we have been doing. I think we'll try some for next year! Thanks for sharing your skills and time and love with others!

jojosnana 12-21-2012 04:56 AM

A very clever and thoughtful idea.

Grace MooreLinker 12-21-2012 06:47 AM

These are so neat, they will be loved, good job.

bibi 12-21-2012 07:00 AM

You and your family are indeed very special. These are very lovely and very inspiring. I too want to make these next year for the same purpose. You said you made some changes, could you please let us know what kind of changes? Of course whenever it is convenient to you. Thanks!
May you and your family enjoy a blessed New Year and a very peaceful and joyous Christmas.

bmillet 12-21-2012 07:43 AM

What a beautiful thought for the holidays. They will appreciate it very and knows someone cares about them.

MS quilter 12-21-2012 09:28 AM

What an amazing idea! I will be making some of these.:)

SewExtremeSeams 12-21-2012 10:18 AM

I spoke with my Mom the other day about your comfort wraps. She felt they would be much better for my Dad than a lap quilt. I think I will make her one also.

squires1042 12-21-2012 10:27 AM

we have done the lap quilts for the nursing home, but these would be a great addition to go along with those, especially for those in wheelchairs. Will be bringing this one to our group.

quilt addict 12-21-2012 12:30 PM

Those are wonderful and I think I will make some for next year for RAK.

Great job by you and your cousins.

quiltmom04 12-21-2012 01:54 PM

That's such a good idea. I never made lap quilts because my parents would have got them all balled up in wheelchair spokes. But this is a great idea!thanks!
