I have never seen a comfort wrap. They all are very nice.

cathyvv 12-21-2012 05:31 PM

Such a great idea! I could use one of those for myself. Thanks for sharing.

May you and your family enjoy a blessed New Year and a very peaceful and joyous Christmas.

The only change that we made was the opening for the neck. The pattern called for 2 1/2" at the top of the opening angled down to 4" at the bottom. We tried them on and found that they were too tight at the neck. We enlarged the opening to 4 1/2" straight down, not angled.

Very comforting and nice of all of you!

These are great! Thanks for the link and your adjustments. My niece has recently been diagnosed with cancer and will be starting chemo and/or radiation soon. I'm planning to make her a lap quilt and wanted to make a matching shawl type wrap also. This will be perfect!

I'm sorry to hear that she has cancer. I'll keep her in my thoughts. My niece had Hodgkin's lymphoma. She's cured. Make her some type of head covering that matches. She will lose her hair.

What a great idea...this also would be perfect for those in hosptials, or anyone in wheel chairs or those who are in chairs most of the day at home...I also like the idea for using it to go to Football games. Perfect size and easy to carry.

Dollyo ~ Your post of the comfort wraps have obviously inspired so many here on the board and in particular this thread to make these wraps for those in need. You and your family effort are indeed examples of what "Giving from the Heart" is all about.

Thank-you again for your clear and straight forward instructions and adjustments. Many, many are going to be blessed because of your post.

SewFarBehind 12-29-2012 06:23 AM

This is a great idea! I might have to borrow it!

cheri stonespinner 12-30-2012 06:19 AM

Beautiful work! Only thing that could improve them would be pockets for cold hands and tissues. I work with the elderly and I'm sure they would love these! Thank you for your time and materials!

all4flors 12-30-2012 06:43 AM

Thank you for posting the link. I know several people who could benefit from one of these wraps.
I have lots of scraps to use for this project.

Have a Blessed day and New Year

Wonderful - everything, but what is meant when the instructions call for "snuggles chocolate backing" and yes, pockets and a loop button would be great too - thanks

Dollyo 03-11-2013 10:26 AM

I had to Google it to find out what "Snuggles" was. It is a backing like minkee, but w/o the dots. It is made by Moda. The pattern is from the Moda Bakeshop. We used fabric that we would not use otherwise. The poly batting was from my earliest days of frame quilting. I now only use Soft & Bright.

PurplePassion 09-29-2013 12:24 PM

This is a great idea. Still time to get some done for Christmas.

meyert 09-29-2013 12:34 PM

I think these are awesome.... when you wrap up in blanket or quilt sometimes they get too bunchy around the neck... the cut out is a great idea. I am flashing back to my days watching my son play football.. one of these would have been wonderful to have

GrammaNan 09-29-2013 02:50 PM

My DH is undergoing chemo and he gets so cold. He has to layer blankets and gets tangled up in them. A wrap like this would keep him warm without tangling and still allow for the IVs and such. I am going to try to make one for him. Thanks for the idea. They are very nice and you are so good to make them for charity.

LadyElisabeth 09-29-2013 03:47 PM

What a good idea. This is new to me.

Pennyhal 09-29-2013 04:10 PM

It is very heartwarming to know that others are so thoughtful and giving. Just when I get depressed with the news, something wonderful like this appears and lifts my belief in the goodness of people.

WTxRed 09-29-2013 04:20 PM

Very Cool and such a wonderful thing for y'all to do.

jeaninmaine 12-23-2013 02:38 PM

What a wonderful gift for a nursing home (or anyone really). As a senior, I know how the drafts can effect joints, even in summer.

GailG 12-23-2013 03:34 PM

I'd like to echo the sentiments of those who have commented on this wonderful thread: What a generous work of charity in the true spirit of Christmas!

I was just wondering if the minky-like fabric would hold up in the washing and drying at the nursing home?

annievee 12-23-2013 04:19 PM

I have never seen these. Think I would like one myself for my shoulders on these cold mornings. What a great project you ladies did !

marymm 12-23-2013 04:43 PM

Yep... there are Angels among us. What a beautiful thing to do.

sewready 12-25-2013 07:12 PM

Yes, I am grateful, too. I would not have known about these wonderful shawls if you had not posted this again. I plan on making some for our local veterans' hospital.
