Yesterday dh and I went to York for the day and had couple of hours in the Castle museum......guess what I found? A tumbling blocks quilt from around 1860. Sorry about the flash in the pic....it was so dark in there, and of course it was in a glass case! I know it will interest you Loretta!!

Wow!! It looks in great condition Karen, don't worry about the flash, you can still see alot of the detail!!

Wow. The border on that quilt is awesome! Did it have a history on it, as in who made it?

Sorry Melissa....no history on it other than the fact that it was made out of dress silks and ribbons!.... One of the quilts there was done by a husband and wife, she did the sewing but apparently she had no eye for colour so he had to decide which block went where!
