Just a word of caution....if you are a person the I send to, you just might get one in your package. Do you have cats? lol

Are you serious????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!

We have a dog, two cats and two hamsters. One hamster escapes all the time and we find him in the garbage can in the morning...It makes me jump every time too! NOthing like finding a rodent in the garbage can!

Ninnie 07-19-2009 05:58 AM

What a beautiful scene, Terri. I love everything about it!!!
I love all the shades of blue and looking out the window and the boat and then the black cat with the little red collar. It has so much going on. the way the window is thrown open, and yet Kitty is just sitting there looking out. And the way the curtain frames the top. Ok I'll shut up now.
I love it!!!

Ok Patti. I found it.
Yes, I remember seeing it now and I think it's really cute!

Patti...Elle!!! You 2 got that!! I need to send to Esqmommy! She likes lizards and you KNOW I have tons of them!
Just ask anyone that has gotten a package from me. There's always the "if" for a lizard. lol

Esqmommy 07-19-2009 06:05 AM

Tell me the lizards are dead when they arrive...please!!!

kluedesigns 07-19-2009 06:06 AM

that postcard will make an excellent inspiration for a center - its just beautiful.

tlrnhi 07-19-2009 06:08 AM

Well, I started TRYING to make it, but not sure. Still have another idea on how to make it a window, so stay tuned!

sandpat 07-20-2009 04:17 AM

No fair playing match up games Terri...although there might be only a few folks willing to chance the lizards. I always let the cats smell of the packages REALLY good before I open!!

Lacelady 07-20-2009 08:01 AM

I love the blue and white centre with a cat in it, but then I am biased, my centre is blue and white. As for reptilian extras, they wouldn't bother me. I am still working on my centre, but enjoying every stitch.

LovingIzabella 07-20-2009 08:20 AM

You ladies are funny. Used to have a black & gold tegu that was meaner than mean until we gave him his own room to run...then you could pick him up and sit him on your shoulder. He was probably about 6 feet long :-) I wouldn't mind a lizard in the package...might be easier to take care of then hubby teehee
I love the kitty in the window. That is a great idea although mine would have to be a dog in the window..hey how much is that doggie in the window..lol Im still trying to decide what I am going to do. I might do up the unicorn and the butterflies and see which I like best..

I think this one will go perfectly! :)

Oh seeing this would freak me the HELLO out!!!!!

I finished my center and don't like it!!!!! BAHHHH!!!!!!

sandpat 07-20-2009 06:15 PM

Well heck k...at least you've got plenty of time to do something different for a center...maybe you need to re-life the one you don't like....maybe a pillow???

kwhite 07-20-2009 06:17 PM

Too bad Elvis is dead it looks like Las Vagas!!!!

I doubt it is that bad!

I need to go ahead and make mine, so I will have time to fix it.

kwhite 07-20-2009 06:28 PM

Wanna see it?

Teacup 07-20-2009 06:37 PM

Hummmmm I emailed it to a couple of people, but .........

It is ok to laugh. I think it is kinda gawdy!!!

Teacup 07-20-2009 06:50 PM

Wow! All kinds of possibilities for borders with that! It could go in several directions. Where did you get the pattern?

kwhite 07-20-2009 06:51 PM

It was a clipart from the web.

Teacup 07-20-2009 07:03 PM

I could see art deco influenced borders with it. Also the celestial theme with the sun and moon.

kwhite 07-20-2009 07:10 PM

That is what drew me to it. Art Deco is my favorite style, but this didn't turn out like I wanted it to.

Teacup 07-20-2009 07:31 PM

Well, borders may do wonders for it. With the deep purple and gold, it could really sing to you by the time it is done. On the other hand, I was just reading a thread about whether someone should remove one block from a pieced top because it was too dark and didn't flow with the rest of the top. Concensus was that if you don't like it now, you won't like it any better 10 years from now. I guess you'll just have to decide how much you love the pattern.

don't give up on the idea. i think the concept is excellent and the 1st time making something never really comes out the way we expected.

i'm not happy with the eyebrows on the face and i've already changed the pattern so it can be fixed on the next one.

i say make the center again and change the things that you don't care for - there's plenty of time to pull the design together.

jacquemoe 07-20-2009 08:10 PM

Klue, that is fantastic. You are an over achiever. An artist for sure. It must be nice to have images in your mind and be able to actually create them. Nice work!

sandpat 07-21-2009 03:25 AM

k, I think the pattern is really a great one! Maybe you need to just step back and decide what you really don't like about it and change just that. I think this one could really develop into a winner for you.

Esqmommy 07-21-2009 05:33 AM

There's my scales of justice I was looking for!!!! I think it's great, but it is a little "vegas". Instead of making it your RR, you could just expand on it a bit and make it a wall hanging???

kwhite 07-21-2009 05:35 AM

I think it is the gold that is bothering me. And it was a bugger to do too!!!! I will have to live with it for a while and decide. It is defiantly out of my comfort zone since I am a traditional scrap quilter. See my avatar. That is me.

Was it really?? I love the design. Just not the "execution" LOL It is supposed to be for a tribute to my MIL. She was a lawyer and judge. I may have to tone it down though cause I know DH will not like it. Crap I don't know what to do. MIL would have liked it though.

EQ send me your e-mail address and I will send you the clipart.

mytwopals 07-21-2009 06:14 AM

k, Take a yard of very dark blue fabric and lay it out on the bed. Take your "Scales of Justice" center and place it in the center of the dark blue fabric. Then tell me it doesn't look great!

Butterflyspain 07-21-2009 08:30 AM

Well Ihave just caught up with this thread. all you over achievers just doing great work.

BTW I like the scales of justice Art Noveau that you did and It could well look better on black, however its nice the way it is. Lots of lovely borders on that one.

Knot Sew 07-21-2009 09:33 AM

I think its beautiful the way it is. I like the gold and it will look nice with a gold bit through it all :D

k3n 07-21-2009 09:34 AM

OMG you've all started already!!!! The deadline is October, right? I'm at the ideas stage....

KW - I agree with MTP - try a darkish border and see what happens, heck, what's WRONG with gaudy anyway! Never did Elvis any harm! Well, come to think of it, it DID actually, so scrap that! I think with a mix of bright and brash and darkish borders it could really work, it's just kind of 'out of context' at the moment; BUT this is a big project so YOU have to be happy with it! :D

Terri, I remember that card from Izy, that's a great idea for a centre, can't wait to see what you come up with. Have you ever done any stained glass? Might work for the window, then with a black kitty against it could look cool! Just an idea, use it or bin it, your call! :D

k3n 07-21-2009 09:35 AM

And KLue - thanks for your comment re our different styles etc - makes me feel MUCH happier! BTW, I said it on the other post, but I'll say it again, I LOVE your centre!

I meant this as a preview of what a dark blue border would look like around this as a centerpiece. Not to change the current background fabric. Just one of the possibilities someone might do for the next round.

My mom asked me if I could post a picture of her center as she was having some issues re-sizing it. This center belongs to Buddy'sMom.

I haven't started yet either - I'm still thinking, but I have no idea what I want to do for my center yet. It's probably going to be a pretty standard pieced center, though, because I'm a beginner quilter and I just don't have time to do something new or complicated, with all the other projects I have on the go!
